Representatives Cancel Allocation of 5 Billion Naira for Tinubu’s Yacht Budget.

On Thursday, the House of Representatives eliminated the budgetary provision for the presidential yacht and reallocated the funds to student loans, raising the student loan allocation from 5.5 billion to 10 billion Naira.

Abubakar Bichi Abubakar, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, announced this during a press briefing, citing the necessity for increased funding for students due to a previously insufficient budget allocation.

“The committee raised the budget allocation for the Ministry of Defence from 476 billion to 546 billion due to heightened security concerns.

Bichi also revealed that the minimum wage for workers had been reviewed and sanctioned for submission to the executive, with an assurance of vigilant legislative supervision to guarantee full implementation.

The amount of 100 billion Naira was maintained for the Federal Capital Territory, as per the request from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

In pursuit of this objective, the House approved a total of 2.177 trillion Naira.
