In the video, a voice can be heard saying, “A deeply unfortunate incident took place at the Marriott Hotel in Owerri during the 50th global reunion of the Federal Government Girls College, Owerri.

Despite reserving rooms several months in advance, the hotel management, at the last moment, allocated these rooms to politicians who had arrived, leaving many former students of the Federal Government Girls College, Owerri, without a place to stay and disheartened in the lobby.”

The incident occurred as part of preparations for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for November 11. The Imo State government had submitted a request to secure exclusive bookings of all available hotel rooms in Owerri.

The memo issued by the Imo State Commissioner for Tourism, Jerry Egemba, on October 25, was addressed to all Chief Executive Officers of hotels in the Owerri metropolis. It outlined the state government’s intention to reserve and pay for all available hotel rooms in the state capital from November 4 to November 11. Hotel CEOs were requested to provide their booking fees to facilitate payment by the state government.
