Pickford beat Iwobi to award

Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, edged Alex Iwobi to the Fans’ Footballer of the Year by Everton supporters, APROKOVIBES Sports Extra reports.

His win was not plain sailing, however.

The Toffees goalie has been in fine form over the past 12 months, helping to keep Everton in the Premier League with big saves won the award after he polled 37 per cent of the overall Everton supporters’ vote.

Nigerian midfielder, Iwobi came in second with 34 per cent.

Former Everton forward, Richarlison was also nominated, alongside local hero Anthony Gordon.

Iwobi has been a player transformed under Frank Lampard and also picked up a sizeable chunk of the vote, pushing Pickford all the way with just 21 votes separating the pair.

Everton may not have enjoyed a rosy 2022, but the pair of Pickford and Iwobi without question have been their stand-out performers.

Pickford finished the Qatar 2022 World Cup joint top of the clean sheet standings but was denied the Golden Glove award due to Emiliano Martinez’s final heroics that helped Argentina win the tournament.

The England goalkeeper conceded in just two of his five matches at the tournament, keeping three clean sheets along the way.
