The public schools in Osun State were allegedly closed on Tuesday (today) in response to the strike call issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).

Several of the students were sighted returning home on the streets of Stadium, Ayetoro, and West Bye Pass in Osogbo, according to reports.

Reporters who reached some schools in the city noticed that teachers were present in different offices while the pupils were sent home.

Fakunle High School in Osogbo, Saint James Grammar School and Adenle Grammar School in Ayetoro Area, Osogbo are among the institutions purportedly visited.

Acknowledges that the educators at the schools were reluctant to discuss the issue. Some, who gave journalists access on the condition that they remain anonymous, claimed that after returning to work, labour officials had informed them that the strike had begun.

“When the labour leaders arrived and requested that we cease operations, we were unable to contain the students. The male teacher, Johnson, said, “The pupils have been discharged, but many teachers are still on the campus.

When contacted, interim chairperson of the Osun NLC, Modupe Oyedele, stated that state employees adhered to the strike order to the letter.

“Osun workers complied fully,” she stated. Osun complies fully with the directive regarding the strike.

Additionally, it was learned that security personnel had fortified key locations in Osogbo, seemingly in an effort to avert a collapse of the rule of law.

Despite the presence of police officers at Lameco Junction, Old Garage, and Olaiya Area in Osogbo, business as usual continued unhindered in the areas that were visited.
