Nigerian man Olubunmi Abodunde, who fatally beat his wife with a skateboard in the UK, has been sentenced to life in prison.
The incident occurred at their home in Newmarket, Suffolk, in November 2023. Abodunde, 48, changed his plea to guilty during his trial, admitting to the murder of his wife, Taiwo Abodunde, 41.
The judge described the attack as ‘cold-blooded and callous,’ mandating a minimum of 17 years in prison before parole consideration.
The couple had moved to the UK from Nigeria in 2022. Prior to her death, there were disputes over finances and allegations of infidelity. Suffolk Police is being investigated for potential misconduct in connection with their prior contact with Mrs. Abodunde.
