Nigerian Army soldiers defeat terrorists and bring 78 women and children to safety.

Troops from the Nigerian Army have dealt a blow to terrorism in the North-East region, killing five terrorists and rescuing 78 kidnapped women and children. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, revealed this in a statement on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

The soldiers also seized a terrorist flag during the operation.

According to the statement, the 7 Division Nigerian Army conducted an assertive clearance patrol on Friday, March 22, 2024, clearing six villages where terrorists were hiding with hostages.

The troops encountered the terrorists during the operation and engaged them in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists. They also successfully rescued 78 individuals, including 35 women and 43 children who were held captive.

The villages cleared by the Combat Team (CT) of the Division include Ngurusoye, Sabon Gari, Mairamri 1 and 2, Bula Dalo, Bula Dalo extension, Yamanci, and Gargaji general areas.

In addition to the terrorist flag, the troops recovered a mobile phone belonging to the terrorists. The rescued victims are currently under custody for preliminary investigation and profiling.

The troops remain committed to sustaining the momentum of Operations Desert Sanity III, aimed at eradicating terrorism and insurgency in the North East.
