A 24-year-old teacher faced divorce from her husband a mere 58 days after their wedding due to allegations of sexual misconduct involving a young boy.
Cassidy Kraus resigned from her position at IKM-Manning Schools on August 25, and her spouse-initiated divorce proceedings just three days later.
Allegations have been made against the 24-year-old, accusing her of engaging in sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old boy, as well as purportedly sharing explicit photos with boys as young as 13 through Snapchat.
These accusations came to light when a concerned parent discovered the explicit messages and promptly reported the situation to the school. Consequently, the school board initiated an inquiry into Kraus’ behavior.
Kraus has been apprehended and is facing charges that include two counts of inappropriate behavior with a minor, three counts of distributing explicit content to underage individuals, and a charge of third-degree sexual abuse. In the event of a conviction, she could potentially face a maximum prison sentence of 33 years.
Kraus was released from county jail the morning after her arrest upon posting a bond of £8,202.
She made her initial court appearance on Thursday, November 2, and she has not yet entered a plea.
In addition to the possibility of a 33-year prison sentence, she could also be subject to substantial fines for her offenses. In Iowa, USA, third-degree sexual abuse may result in fines ranging from £1,124 to £11,203.
The charge of committing lascivious acts with a child carries the same penalties. Dissemination of obscene materials can lead to a sentence of up to one year and fines of up to £2,100.
