Morayo Afolabi-Brown, a TV host, suggests that Nigerians should withhold criticism towards Bobrisky for winning the Best Dressed Female award unless she has contravened any laws. .

Nigerian media personality, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has asserted that Nigerians should refrain from criticizing Bobrisky for receiving the Best Dressed Female award at an event in Lagos last weekend.

According to Morayo, Bobrisky has not violated any laws by dressing as a woman. She pointed out that while Nigerian law prohibits same-sex relationships, it does not explicitly prohibit cross-dressing.

“He is sparking conversation and serves as a prime example of the complexities within Nigerian society,” Morayo stated.

“On one hand, Nigerians express opposition to certain behaviors, such as same-sex relationships punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Yet, there is no legal prohibition against cross-dressing. Individuals are free to dress as they please, though they may face societal scrutiny or legal questioning based on perceptions or actions.”

Morayo highlighted the apparent inconsistency in Nigeria’s stance on such matters, noting that Bobrisky, despite his controversial persona, has not faced legal repercussions for his choices. She emphasized that Bobrisky’s private life remains undisclosed, suggesting that if he were truly a woman, he would be expected to date men.

“There is ongoing discourse surrounding Bobrisky, which can be perplexing,” Morayo continued. “However, when Bobrisky participates in competitions alongside women, there is no justification for feeling offended simply because he presents himself as a woman.”

Expressing her personal viewpoint, Morayo emphasized that as long as Bobrisky has not violated any laws and has not faced legal action, there is no basis for criticizing him for winning a competition he voluntarily entered.

“Bobrisky is a Nigerian citizen who deserves respect and consideration, regardless of his personal choices,” Morayo concluded.
