Moniepoint unveils personal banking app

Microfinance Bank, Moniepoint has unveiled a personal banking app to consolidate its offerings in the micro-banking space.

Moniepoint’s Senior Vice President, Channels and Sales, Ope Adeyemi, who led the unveiling of the product at a media parley in Lagos, said users could use the app for financial transactions such as funds transfer, bills payment, among others.

The new app, according to Adeyemi, came with a gamified in-app approach that would enable thousands of users win N2,000 weekly and a grand prize of N10m.

Adeyemi said, “We want to supercharge financial inclusion because we realise that if you want to drive behavioural change and increase adoption, you should reward consistently good behaviour.

“Consumers are rewarded with coins on our personal banking app after they carry out transactions, and these coins allow them to take part in exciting weekly games.”

On his part, the acting Managing Director of Moneypoint, Babatunde Olofin, said that financial access for every Nigerian should be a right, not a privilege.

Olopi said that the microfinance bank’s drive to ensure financial access across the country had seen the company grow the number of businesses under its platform to 1.5 million.

He added that Moniepoint now processed over 400 billion transactions worth $12bn on a monthly basis.

He said, “Everybody deserves financial access. Financial access should be a right, not a privilege. As of today, we cater to over 1.5 million businesses, providing various financial services which include payments, credit, digital banking and business management solutions.
