Mojisola Ogunsanya boxing clinic organisers assure top-class experience

Organisers of the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Boxing Clinic have assured boxers of a top-class training experience during their three-day camp at the ultra-modern Mojisola Ogunsanya boxing gym.

The clinic is organised for eight selected Nigerian boxers by Flykite Productions, managers of GOtv Boxing Night, and supported by Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya (SAN), Chairman, MultiChoice Nigeria, and Chairman GOtv Boxing.

Addressing boxers and coaches at the gym, Jenkins Alumona, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Flykite Productions, said preparations have been put in place to ensure they have a good camping experience.

Alumona stated that there are plans in place to hold the clinic every quarter.

“Everything you need for the next three days will be provided to ensure you are comfortable and focused. This gym is in a secluded environment that enables boxers to focus fully on the training. I want you to relax, train, and get fit.

“This is the first edition of this clinic. We will try and do this quarterly,” he said.

Alumona explained that the clinic aims to bridge the capacity gap among Nigerian boxers and urged the boxers to take full advantage of the opportunity.

“The promoter, Chief Ogunsanya, believes that Nigerian boxers should be able to train the way foreign professionals do. It is why we have taken you guys away from all forms of distraction. There are talents out there, but not enough capacity. I urge you guys to take full advantage of this facility to equip yourselves. I am confident that at the end of these three days, you will be better,” he said.

Flykite Productions COO, Bamidele Johnson told The APROKOVIBES that the clinic was initiated to give young boxers the chance to get better.

“The clinic has been initiated to give young boxers exposure; the kind of exposure that will make them to get better because the coaches who will be with them are some of the best around so this is an opportunity for them to learn from the best in an environment that is very conducive and without distractions.”

Speaking on behalf of the coaches, Augustine Okporu commended organisers of the clinic for the opportunity to use the well-equipped facility.

“This is a very good opportunity for these boxers. We are excited. We will see to it that they are well drilled to ensure the purpose of this clinic is achieved,” Okporu said. Other coaches at the clinic are Shehu Yusuf and Afolabi Shittu.

Okporu told The APROKOVIBES about what he has in store for the boxers at the clinic and also assessed their potential.

“This is a very good opportunity for the boxers to improve their talents and skills. They will undergo training morning and evening for these three days to work on their fitness, endurance and hone their skills.

“They have really good potential, they are champions; both the males and the females, in fact, I am impressed with the boxers at this clinic, really great boxers.”
