Missing out on AFCON and watching from home was a tough experience for Maduka Okoye, who now aims to make a comeback to the Super Eagles.

Maduka Okoye, the goalkeeper for the Super Eagles, is aiming to reclaim his spot on the Nigerian national team after being excluded from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad in Cote d’Ivoire.

Despite a challenging stint at Sky Bet Championship’s Watford last season due to injury, Okoye secured a permanent move to Serie A club Udinese last summer, seeking to rejuvenate his career.

Now a regular starter at Udinese, the 24-year-old hopes for another opportunity with the Super Eagles, despite facing stiff competition from the in-form goalkeeper, Nwabali.

“I’m feeling very well now, I feel 100%,” Okoye shared with the club’s official website.

“The national team is a priority for me, and I aim to make a swift return.

It was difficult watching the Africa Cup of Nations from home, but such is the nature of football.”
