Lagos police apprehend traffic robbers who attacked a DPO, stealing her phone and leaving her injured with a cutlass.

Three armed robbers who assaulted Divisional Police Officer Abaniwonda Tokunbo in Lagos state have been apprehended.

According to police reports, the attackers assaulted the DPO on April 9 with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons while she was traveling on Otedola Bridge. They stole her phone and left her with a cutlass wound on her back.

Following intelligence received by the police, the assailants were traced to a hotel in Akute, Ajuwon area of Ogun state.

The hotel was raided, resulting in the arrest of the ringleader, Tochukwu Nonso, 29, also known as Thug Life, along with his accomplice, Chidera Christopher, 25.

Police investigations revealed that the suspects forcefully took the DPO’s phone and inflicted a deep wound on her. It was also uncovered that the ringleader had been involved in robberies on the bridge for over five years, frequently changing accomplices.

When contacted, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed their arrest.
