After a remarkable nine-year tenure at the English football club, Jurgen Klopp, the 56-year-old German football manager, has declared his departure from Liverpool. In a Friday morning interview with the club’s website, Klopp explained that he is ‘running out of energy’ following his triumphs in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup. “I will leave the club at the end of the season,” he announced, acknowledging that the revelation might be a shock to many. Despite his deep affection for the club, city, supporters, team, and staff, Klopp emphasized that his decision stems from a conviction that it is the right one.

Expressing gratitude for the years spent together and the shared experiences, Klopp clarified that he is at peace with his decision. Acknowledging his diminishing energy, he explained that he knew for a while that the announcement would come and that he is now ready to share the truth with the supporters. Klopp’s decision will also see his assistants, Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, leave in the summer, with Lijnders aspiring to transition into management.

Taking the helm at Liverpool in 2015, Klopp secured his first piece of silverware in 2019 by clinching the Champions League title against Tottenham. A year later, he led the team to a historic Premier League title, ending a 30-year drought, with an impressive 99 points to surpass rivals Manchester City.
