Iwobi ranked fourth ahead Salah, Mahrez



Alex Iwobi has been rated the fourth most creative player in the Premier League so far this season, APROKOVIBES Sports Extra reports.

The Nigerian midfielder is ahead of former African Footballer of the Year winners, Mohammed Salah and Riyad Mahrez in the list.

Salah, who won the African Footballer of the Year in 2017 and 2018, has made five assists, one more than Mahrez who was a recipient of the award in 2016.

Iwobi has been one of the outstanding players for Everton this season notching six assists and scoring one goal in 23 games for the Toffees who currently sit 16th in the EPL standings – one point ahead of the relegation zone.

In all, the former Arsenal midfielder has made 38 assists in 206 EPL games since his debut in the competition.

Martin Odegaard, Andreas Pereira and Bruno Fernandes have also made six assists just as the Nigerian midfielder.

Only Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen have made more assists than the Nigerian midfielder.

De Bruyne has made 12 assists while Saka churned out eight assists one more than the Red Devils’ Danish midfielder Eriksen.

His compatriots, Kelechi Iheanacho is ranked 19th while Emmanuel Dennis and Frank Onyeka are placed 105th respectively in the pool.

Iheanacho, who has also scored three goals in 17 league games, has made four assists for Leicester City this season while Dennis and Onyeka have one apiece this term.

Iwobi who Everton is also pushing ahead in talks over fresh terms according to The Athletic has created a total of 16 chances for the Toffees this team and is also ranked 64th best passer of the ball in the Premier League. The Nigerian has made 907 passes this season so far.

The underlying statistics show Iwobi has been a key player for the new manager. He created eight chances over those last three games, more than any other Everton player.

That suggests Iwobi’s creativity can prove decisive for the Toffees in their upcoming pair of matches. He is expected to keep his place when Everton host Aston Villa at Goodison Park on Saturday.
