In Ogun, a mother, her son, and one more person were all electrocuted.

Three individuals were electrocuted at Mowe market in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. Among the victims were a mother named Ujunwa Okechukwu, her son, and another person.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday, April 22, shortly after power was restored following a rainstorm.

The electric spark originated from a step-down transformer on an electrical pole near the shop where the tragedy took place.

Soneye, the Director of Information at the Obafemi Owode Local Government, confirmed the incident, stating that the woman was burnt to ashes.

Soneye attributed the cause of the incident to the construction of iron shops under the powerline by traders.

The chairman of the council, Lanre Ogunsola, visited the affected shop owners to offer condolences and issued a seven-day ultimatum to evacuate the makeshift shops to prevent similar incidents.

Additionally, the council boss visited the injured victims receiving treatment at Mowe Health Post, assuring them of government-funded medical care.
