After heavy rainfall, images emerged showing the aftermath of a prison collapse in Niger State, resulting in the escape of 119 inmates.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, visited the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre to address the situation.

While 14 inmates were recaptured, discussions arose about relocating correctional facilities away from urban centers to alleviate overcrowding and improve security.

Tunji-Ojo stressed the need for nationwide reforms in the overcrowded custodial system.
