I’m in good spirit -Power Minister addresses the public after surviving an aircraft incident.

On Saturday, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, reassured the public regarding his well-being after the incident that occurred near the Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State on Friday.

An individual with close ties to the Minister informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that Adelabu remained in a positive state of mind and was undisturbed by the occurrence.

According to NAN, the private plane carrying the minister and some of his aides made a crash landing near the airport late Friday evening.

”The Minister feels the incident is not something to worry about. It was actually a minor thing, and that is how he has taken it,” an aide of the Minister, who asked to stay anonymous”, said.

He additionally conveyed to NAN that the Minister was specifically untroubled by the incident, as none of the passengers sustained any injuries during the event.

”Everyone on board the aircraft when the incident happened actually alighted without any problem, and we have no cause to worry,” the aide said.

The plane had taken off from Abuja, heading for Ibadan, but it touched down approximately 50 meters before the runway threshold, ultimately veering into a nearby ditch.

In the meantime, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) declared in a statement released on Saturday that it had initiated an inquiry into the incident’s underlying cause.

“On the accident involving an aircraft operated by Flint Aero which occurred at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Ibadan, please be informed that the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced an investigation into the cause.”

Our investigators are on site and further information will be provided as soon as possible,” NSIB said in the statement issued by its Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr James Odaudu.
