Hooligans Assault Former Gubernatorial Aspirant.

Suspected political hooligans targeted the home of Diekivie Ikiogha, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, in the Kpansia district of Yenagoa, the state’s capital, on Tuesday.

It has been reported that the hooligans allegedly hurled an explosive, suspected to be a dynamite, into the structure around 2 am, causing damage to the windowpanes and the area where the explosive struck.

According to reports, no individuals inside the residence of Ikiogha, a former Commissioner for Agriculture and Chief of Staff at the Government House in Yenagoa, sustained any injuries during the assault.

A local resident, commenting on the occurrence, stated, I heard a big explosion from this building around 2am last night. But I don’t know what caused it.”

Leading up to the Bayelsa governorship elections, Ikiogha transitioned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Labour Party. There, he acquired the nomination form and participated in the primary election, but he was defeated by the LP gubernatorial candidate, Udengs Eradiri.

Last week, the politician made a comeback to the PDP, marking his return after several years of being part of the APC.

Likewise, in the Opolo area of the state capital, two individuals, whose identities remain unknown, were reportedly injured by gunfire during an attack carried out by unidentified hooligans.
