Gombe’s NAPTIP rescued two trafficked children from Abuja and Lagos.

NAPTIP intervened to rescue two minors believed to have been trafficked by their own relatives. Aisha Shehu, only four months old, was found in Abuja, while 11-year-old Usman Kabiru was recovered in Lagos.

This operation followed the arrest of 16 suspects by the Gombe State Police in January, uncovering a network involved in child trafficking, baby sales, and sexual exploitation.

After thorough investigation, nine suspects were charged and their cases filed before the Federal and State Higher Court of Gombe Judiciary Division. NAPTIP ensured the victims’ rehabilitation, with three receiving empowerment measures:

two girls enrolled in a six-month tailoring skills training in Gombe, and a boy continued his education at Sheikh Jafar Memorial Primary School, with all expenses covered by NAPTIP.

Commander Aminu Shira affirmed NAPTIP’s unwavering commitment to preventing exploitation and improving societal safety and welfare.
