The G-5 Governors

The G-5 Governors, all affiliated with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), engaged in a dialogue with President Bola Tinubu on the evening of Tuesday, October 17, at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.

Before this meeting with Tinubu, the G-5 governors, consisting of four former governors and one current governor, had initially convened for a preliminary conversation at the residence of Nyesom Wike, who serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja.

Among the attendees of the meeting were former Governors, including Nyesom Wike, the previous Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Samuel Ortom, the former Benue State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the former Enugu State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, his counterpart from Abia State, and the serving Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.

According to an undisclosed source with knowledge of the meeting, who wished to remain anonymous as they were not authorized to comment on the matter, said.

“The G-5 PDP Governors first met in Wike’s residence for a few hours before heading to the Villa to meet with the president.

“Exact details of what was discussed isn’t available to me at the moment, but from discussions held during the initial meeting at Wike’s residence, it was all about finding accommodation for the former governors in the scheme of things and of course, how they can work together.”
