Olumoko was fired two days after the report was made public.

On Tuesday, November 7, the Lagos State House of Assembly summoned the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, the Senate of the university, and other senior staff members in response to accusations of extortion and certificate racketeering made against the institution.

For the benefit of the school, Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa requested on Tuesday that the relevant authorities at the institution be invited to gather information regarding the claim.

“I agree that the committee should invite those to be invited to establish facts about the allegation, but we must not because of that destroy our institution’s reputation,”

The institution’s alumnus Obasa stated, adding that anyone found to be lacking ought to face consequences.

Hon. Owolabi Ajani moved the resolution under the heading “Matter of Urgent Public Importance,” informing his colleagues that in order for the House to investigate the allegations, it was necessary to invite the Commissioner, the VC, and other parties.
