The agency said it would be using a locally made robot called Omeife to deepen the ability of Nigerians to use Information Technology and digital technology.

Speaking during the signing of the memorandum of understanding in Abuja, the National Director, National Center for Artificial Intelligence Robotics, NITDA, Yau Garba, said the robot could be controlled using any of the four languages in Nigeria.

Inuwa said, “Omeife can be in the hands of Nigerians to learn in a personalized manner and have an interactive experience. I have gone around the facility and I am impressed with the technologies in place. I am happy with the convergence of technology in this place, from biological, physical, and chemical perspectives.”

The Chairman of the firm, Dr. Chuks Ekwueme, acknowledged NITDA, academia, industry partners, and policymakers, for supporting the thriving of digital literacy.

He stressed the need to expand technology to the grassroots.

“NITDA has been a partner in progress. The apps launched will solve unique problems in Africa and add value to society. Building a digital economy is impossible without the digital education of the masses, especially those at the grassroots, such as local traders and the underserved,” he noted.
