In Kwalfada village, located in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, bandits fatally attacked a man.
The motive behind the killing was reportedly the father’s opposition to his daughter marrying one of the bandits. According to a local resident, Mallam Rabo, the bandit had proposed to the victim’s daughter, but her father declined the marriage proposal.
According to Rabo, the father chose to marry off his daughter to a man from the village instead of the bandit.
Rabo said, “After the marriage was contracted, the bandits invaded the community and killed the father of the girl.
“They also asked the husband of the girl to divorce her so that their colleague could marry her.
“They threatened to kill the husband if he did not comply with the directive.
“The husband immediately divorced the wife, and she was remarried to the bandit who took her to the forest.”
Expressing his frustration, Rabo, who pointed out that the bandits had been causing fear in the community for an extended period, mentioned that the authorities had not taken any measures to ensure the residents’ security.
He mentioned that the bandits enforced a levy of N4 million on the village just a few weeks ago.
