Late Sylvester Oromoni
The family of the late 12-year-old Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, has officially announced that the funeral service for him will take place on January 27, 2024.
The family expressed their deep sorrow over the tragic loss and revealed their decision to bid farewell to Sylvester with final rites scheduled to be held at Ogbe-Ijaw Warri Kingdom in Delta state, In a statement released on Monday, January 22.
On November 30, 2021, Exactly two years ago,Sylvester Oromoni Jnr’s death was reported under controversial circumstances. The 12-year-old pupil of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos State, succumbed to injuries inflicted during a disturbing assault by senior students attempting to initiate him into a cult group. To date, the family has not received justice in the matter.
Sylvester, born on December 4, 2009, was known for his outstanding intellect and maturity beyond his years. He possessed remarkable initiative, an extraordinary sense of humor, and a passion for knowledge, particularly in computer science, programming, electrical science, and football. His untimely demise has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of his family and those close to him.
The family urges everyone to honor Sylvester’s memory by reflecting on the bright spirit that enriched their lives and celebrating the intellect that radiated from his young mind. They continue to mourn their son while emphasizing the importance of justice for Sylvester, who was tragically murdered by fellow students.
Following Sylvester’s death, a coroner inquest was initiated by the Lagos state government, and the report is expected to be made public on April 12, 2024.
