Eid-El-Fitr celebrations postponed and fast continues as Saudi Arabia is yet to sight the crescent.

The Ramadan fast continues on Tuesday, April 9, with Saudi Arabia confirming today that the crescent of Shawwal has not been sighted. This announcement was made through Haramin’s official Facebook page, a recognized platform for the global Muslim community. Additionally, it stated that Eid-El-Fitr would be observed on Wednesday, April 10, marking the commencement of the new Islamic month.

The official statement reads, “The crescent moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10th April 2024. May Allah allow us to utilize the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him, may He accept our fasting, prayers, and good deeds, and may He grant us the opportunity to witness many more Ramadans in good health. Ameen.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian Muslims are advised to await the announcement from the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, later today.

The Federal government had earlier declared Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, as public holidays to observe Eid-Fitr.
