EFCC Charges Managing Director and Company in N21 Million Fraud Case.

Salisu Suleiman

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought charges against Salisu Suleiman, the Managing Director of Faris Construction Company Limited, and his company for allegedly misappropriating N21 million.

On Friday, he faced arraignment before Justice Hadiza Suleiman at the Kano State High Court in Kano.

The charge reads: “That you, Salisu Suleiman being the Managing Director of Faris Construction Company Limited and Faris Construction Company Limited on or about June 15, 2021, in Kano, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court dishonestly misappropriated the sum of N21,000,000 being payment for the supply of 125,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil to your construction site in Nguru Local Government, Yobe State by SID Oil and Gas Limited and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 309 of the same law.”

Upon hearing the charge, he entered a plea of not guilty, leading the prosecution counsel, Aisha Habib, to request a trial date. Meanwhile, the defense counsel, Mardiyya Dawaki, sought bail for the accused.

Habib objected to the defense’s request, citing the defendant’s previous violation of an administrative bail granted by the EFCC.

Justice Suleiman ordered the defendant to be held in EFCC’s custody and scheduled a hearing for the bail application.
