During prayers at a mosque in Kano, a man deliberately ignited a fire and locked the worshippers inside, intending to prevent their escape from the fire.

In Laraba Abasawa, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, worshippers were left injured when a man set a mosque ablaze during the ‘Subh’ prayer session.

According to a community member who preferred anonymity, the arsonist used petrol to ignite the fire while approximately 40 worshippers were in prayer. He then locked the mosque, trapping those inside.

It took some time for people outside to realize what had happened and rescue the victims, who were struggling to escape.

Approximately 20 worshippers, sustaining serious injuries, were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano for treatment, as reported by DailyTrust.
