Jada Pinketh Smith, Will Smith and Chris Rock
According to insiders, Chris Rock is experiencing significant ‘frustration’ due to his involvement in Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s ongoing marital turmoil.
Rock would much rather have the actress avoid referencing him as she promotes her revealing book.
The 58-year-old comedian found himself in the spotlight last year when he was physically confronted by Will at the Oscars, live on stage, following a ‘G.I. Jane’ joke about Jada’s alopecia revelation.
Now, the stand-up comic is once again entangled in the couple’s turbulent relationship, as the 52-year-old Girls Trip actress recently alleged that Chris once extended an invitation for a date during a period when she and Will were amidst divorce speculations.
According to an exclusive source speaking to DailyMail.com, Chris has already shared his perspective on the Will Smith slap incident. However, with the recent revelations from Jada about her and Will leading separate lives, it has become yet another surprising twist in the ongoing saga involving Chris, Jada, and Will over the past few years.
He is a relatively private person and had been reaching a point where people might have begun to move on. But now, it’s back in the spotlight, and it’s frustrating for him that everything is resurfacing, especially the constant references to the past incidents.
The source further remarked, “Chris has moved on and would greatly appreciate it if Jada refrained from mentioning him.”
During the Oscars that night, Will confronted Chris with the words, “Don’t mention my wife again.” He went on to win the Best Actor award for his role in King Richard.
Jada, who expressed her surprise at being referred to as Will’s ‘wife’, asserted that after Chris made the joke, he leaned over to her to apologize. This only intensified Will’s anger.
Describing the aftermath, she explained, “Will is still upset because Chris is talking to me, and I told Chris, ‘This is about past issues.’ That’s all I could think to say. It’s not about him at all.”
Jada also disclosed that she quietly separated from Will seven years ago and mentioned that Chris once made a romantic advance toward her.
Jada shared with People, “Every summer, reports would surface about Will and me getting a divorce. And during one particular summer, Chris believed we were divorcing. So he called me and essentially said, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ I was puzzled and replied, ‘What do you mean?’ He asked, ‘Aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I clarified, ‘No, Chris, those are just rumors.'”
She continued, “He was taken aback and offered a heartfelt apology, and that was the end of it.”
Jada also discussed the Oscars incident, revealing that she hasn’t spoken with Chris since.
“Do I have any desire to speak with Chris? Here’s what I desire: I hope that all the misunderstandings surrounding this can be resolved, and there can be peace,” she stated.
“I delve into this in the book, and I think there might be some miscommunication between Chris and me regarding the 2016 Oscars.”
She further said, “I believe he may have been offended, although I had no intention of causing any harm. My aim was not to offend, but it seems there’s a significant misinterpretation.”
