Tensions flared at the Bayelsa Collation Centre in Yenogoa as agents from the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) clashed over disputed election results in specific local government areas in the state.

As collation continued on Monday, the collation officer for the Brass local government area announced the results, which showed that the APC had won in Brass with 18,431 votes to the PDP’s 12,602 votes.

After the results were announced, party agents, including those of the APC and the PDP, disagreed on the alleged violence in the local government.

The commotion nearly turned into a fight before security officers intervened.

The scene forced the police to intervene, who were called in to keep order at the collation centre.
