Benue State University, Makurdi.
The Management Committee of Benue State University, Makurdi, has imposed a one-month suspension on all medical students ranging from the 200th to the 600th level at the university.
This decision came following a peaceful protest staged by these students at the Government House last Wednesday, citing concerns about the arbitrary withdrawal of their peers, inadequate water supply, and overcrowded accommodations, with up to five students per room instead of the intended two.
The students reportedly encountered a group of individuals they identified as thugs near the Government House entrance.
According to an internal memorandum signed by the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Mfaga Modom, all affected students are required to vacate the university hostels by 10:00 AM on Monday, October 30, 2023, and return on Wednesday, November 25.
Dr. Modom mentioned in the memorandum that upon their return, each student should also be accompanied by a Parent/Guardian who will provide a signed commitment.
