Authorities in Benue have apprehended three manufacturers of firearms.

The police in Agu community of Vandekiya LGA, Benue state, have arrested three individuals suspected of manufacturing firearms.

The arrests followed intelligence gathered about arms dealing in the area.

Emmanuel Adesina, the State’s Commissioner of Police, addressed the media on Wednesday, stating that police detectives were deployed to gather information and apprehend the suspects involved.

On February 7, 2024, Precious Ebuka Chukwu, from Onitsha, Anambra State, was apprehended in Agu, Vandeikya LGA, leading to the recovery of three locally made beretta pistols during a spot search.

Chukwu then led the authorities to the hideout of his regular suppliers, blacksmiths Tyav Wuese and Tyav Terkuma of Adikpo, Kwande LGA, who specialize in manufacturing guns.

The two manufacturers were also arrested, and the suspects are set to be charged to court soon.
