After two decades of saving for her dream wedding, a woman decided to marry herself when she couldn’t find the right partner.

A woman, who had diligently saved for her dream wedding over the course of 20 years, decided to host a wedding for herself when she couldn’t find the ideal life partner.

At the age of 42, Sarah Wilkinson chose to have a wedding ceremony officiated by a close friend, which took place on September 30th at Harvest House in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

In her role as a credit controller, she noted that the celebration naturally followed her self-purchase of an engagement ring.

She expressed, “It was a wonderful day for me to bask in the spotlight.”

“The ceremony wasn’t an official wedding, but I had my wedding day.

“I think you get to the point where you think ‘I might not have this with a partner by my side, but why should I miss out?’

“That money was reserved for my wedding – it was a case of it’s there and why not use it for something I want to do.”

Residing in the same town, Ms. Wilkinson shared that she dedicated £10,000 to the event, diligently saving a portion of her income each month and contributing any unexpected financial windfalls.

During the ceremony, the bride was joined by 40 of her dearest family and friends, and an additional 40 guests celebrated with her in the evening at the nearby tennis club.

Speaking with BBC Radio Suffolk, she mentioned that her friends were hardly taken aback by her decision to organize her own wedding.

Ms. Wilkinson explained that she penned 14 personal vows, with the initial one humorously pledging to never let go of the TV remote.

She shared that the concept of her wedding blossomed during the lockdown when she celebrated her 40th birthday and made the decision to fulfill her long-held desire by purchasing a diamond engagement ring for herself.
