After Eight Years, American Woman Imprisoned For Mother’s Murder is Released.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

An American woman, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, found guilty of second-degree murder in connection with her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s death, was let out of jail on Thursday, three years before her 10-year sentence was supposed to end. This news comes from a report by TMZ.

TMZ shared that Dee Dee was accused of making Gypsy pretend to be disabled for a long time, keeping her like a hostage and tying her up in bed when she tried to escape.

Dee Dee reportedly had a mental disorder where a parent makes up illnesses in their child to get sympathy or attention.

Gypsy’s then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, who confessed to killing Dee Dee in 2015 to help Gypsy get away from her mother, is currently serving a life sentence. Gypsy, who was initially going to be in custody until 2026, got parole in September.

Now 32 years old, Gypsy mentioned in interviews from prison that she feels more liberated there than when she lived with Dee Dee. She expressed regret for her mother’s murder.

According to TMZ, Gypsy shared that her top priority after being released from prison was to meet the American singer Taylor Swift at a Kansas City Chiefs game. She mentioned that she and her husband, Ryan, have tickets for the game on December 31.
