After a minister offered a N2 million bounty, an Anambra lawyer accused of assaulting an 11-year-old maid surrendered to the police.

Adachukwu Okafor, the Anambra lawyer accused of abusing her 11-year-old maid, has turned herself in to the police and will face court proceedings.

This follows Minister of Women Affairs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye’s offer of a N2 million reward for her capture.

Confirming the surrender, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, media aide to State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner Hon Ify Obinabo, stated in a February 16, 2024 statement that the suspect surrendered to the Anambra Police Command in Awka.

Okafor allegedly used knives and other sharp objects to harm the minor, Happiness Nwafor.

Obinabo added that Adachukwu will appear before the Children, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence Magistrate court in Awka next week.

Meanwhile, the victim is expected to be discharged from the hospital.
