Adding Business Learning: Awosika’s Call for Schools to Teach Entrepreneurship.

Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, the Founder and Chair of the Centre Group, is advocating for the integration of entrepreneurial studies into the foundational education curriculum. She delivered this message while serving as the guest lecturer at the seventh public lecture of Corona College of Education in Lagos State.

During her address, Awosika underscored the significance of introducing robust entrepreneurship programs at an early stage in academic curricula. S

he strongly urged for the initiation of entrepreneurial education as early as primary school, asserting that such an approach could mold forward-thinking Nigerian graduates into catalysts for employment creation.

Awosika highlighted how small and medium-sized businesses play a big part in making jobs and why it’s important to organize the different steps in making products to make things work better, be more creative, and help the whole industry grow.

She recommended that students cultivate a mindset focused on solving problems with commercial value, beginning at the foundational level. Additionally, Awosika emphasized the significance of acquiring a range of technical skills for business growth beyond primary or secondary education.

The talk named ‘The Future of Education and Entrepreneurship in Nigeria: Trends and Predictions’ concentrated on how education and starting businesses will work together in Nigeria in the future.

The person in charge at the event, Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, who stood in for the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education, Otto, Ijaniki, was represented by Dr. Tayo Kayode-Isola, the Director of NCE Programmes, and oversaw the event.

Dr. Olajumoke Mekiliuwa, the head of the College, talked about how it’s important to bring back Technical and Vocational Education and Training. She said this is a crucial way to change how education works in Nigeria, closing the gap between what you learn in school and what you can do in real life.
