A school mourns the loss of a 14-year-old British-Nigerian killed in a sword attack in London.

Bancroft’s School mourned the loss of 14-year-old British-Nigerian student, Daniel Anjorin, following a fatal sword attack in London. The UK Metropolitan Police disclosed the tragic incident, revealing that Daniel was attacked while walking to school in Hainault. A 36-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, as investigations continue.

Anjorin’s school, in a statement on its website, expressed profound shock and sorrow at his death, describing him as a dedicated scholar with a positive and gentle character.

The incident occurred just before 7 am, with the accused crashing a van into a house fence, injuring a man before fatally stabbing him in the neck, as per the police report.

A 35-year-old man sustained lacerations to his arm after being attacked inside a nearby property. The suspect then proceeded to assault Anjorin, resulting in fatal injuries, as confirmed by the police.

Despite police arriving 12 minutes after the initial emergency call and attempting to subdue the suspect with incapacitant spray and a Taser gun, the efforts had limited effect.

Two police officers were seriously injured in the process, both requiring surgery and remaining hospitalized. One victim, a woman, suffered severe injuries to her arm, narrowly avoiding amputation, according to police reports.

Prior to the police’s update on Wednesday, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with the affected individuals and their families.

He lauded the emergency services for their prompt response and commended the bravery exhibited by the police at the scene.

Many Nigerians have taken to social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), to mourn the loss of the deceased and offer condolences to the family.
