A man was shot dead as he tried to escape from kidnappers in Edo.

Lucky Adodo, a man identified as such, met his end as he attempted to escape from kidnappers in Edo State.

The incident occurred over the weekend on Ohen road in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of the state.

Owean Ehi, who confirmed the event through a Facebook post, lamented the ongoing kidnappings in Uromi.

In his post, he stressed the continuous insecurity in Uromi and expressed frustration at the lack of lasting action against the perpetrators.

He highlighted the unfortunate reality that every month witnesses a new kidnapping case in Uromi, with no culprits ever apprehended.

Ehi also revealed the loss of Lucky Adodo, who was shot down in the heart of the town on the busy Ohen Road, with none of the kidnappers brought to justice.

He criticized the response of the Uromi youths, questioning the effectiveness of blocking roads as a form of protest.

Ehi then made a bold claim that some individuals from Uromi are complicit in these crimes but are not being taken seriously.

He challenged the council boss to conduct unannounced searches on security personnel in Uromi and take decisive action against anyone suspicious.

Ehi emphasized the importance of involving community leaders, market women, and other stakeholders in efforts to restore peace.

He urged the council chairman to ensure the presence of the royal majesty in any meetings held on the matter, as he holds significant influence in the community.

In conclusion, Ehi extended his condolences to the deceased and warned those involved in criminal activities of divine retribution.
