While installing solar panels on a one-story building, a student in their final year at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Delta State, suffered an electrocution.
It was learned that this tragic incident took place in a business vicinity near a commercial bank in the Warri Garage Area on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Witnesses informed reporters that the student had used an aluminum ladder to reach the spot where he intended to install the solar panels, and this ladder became magnetized due to the nearby high-tension wires connected to a neighboring commercial bank. As a result, he allegedly suffered an electrocution during the installation process, according to eyewitnesses.

Additionally, it was learned that a brave passerby, upon noticing the distressing situation, promptly used a lengthy, dry plank to strike the aluminum ladder, effectively separating it from the live high-tension wires to which the young man had become unintentionally attached.

The final-year student from PTI, who was reportedly working on his final project when the incident occurred, was swiftly taken to a nearby private clinic for medical attention.

Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the private clinic.

In the meantime, the body of the deceased student, who lived with his parents in the vicinity of Bowen Avenue, has been said to have been interred in his hometown in one of the South-Eastern states on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
